Over the past week, multiple members have contacted the American Ambulance Association to report that they have received a letter from the Centers for Medicare and Medicaid Services (CMS) related to their participation in the Merit-Based Incentive Payment System (MIPS). The letter appears to have been sent to any entity with a taxpayer identification number (TIN) that is enrolled in the Medicare Part B Program. The stated purpose of the letter is to inform the provider whether it is exempt from participation in the MIPS program. This member advisory is being issued to advise ambulance suppliers that: (1) they are not eligible to participate in the MIPS program (2) no positive or negative adjustments will be made to the ambulance suppliers Medicare payments (3) no further action is required on their part Therefore, AAA members that received this letter can safely disregard it.   …
