With nearly every organization working to improve employee recruitment and retention and significant regulatory oversight of the workplace, it is critical that the EMS leaders of today possess competencies beyond those typically developed by EMS providers. Historically, those promoted into EMS leadership roles were the best EMTs or Paramedics. This session will discuss the knowledge, skills, and abilities that today’s leaders must possess to be successful in a leadership role in modern EMS organizations. Often called the “soft skills”, these can be the hardest to demonstrate and the most difficult to train for and develop. In this workforce environment, it is equally important for today’s leaders to master both the art and technical forms of leadership.
