OSHA’s New Emergency Temporary Standard: What EMS Employers Need to Know
Recorded June 30, 2021 | Free to American Ambulance Association Members | Scott Moore, Esq.
On June 21, 2021, the U.S. Department of Labor’s Occupational Safety and Health Administration (OSHA) published its COVID-19 Emergency Temporary Standard (“ETS”), meaning the new regulations are now effective. Covered healthcare employers must comply with most of the requirements of the ETS by July 6, 2021. These new standards apply to employers subject to OSHA’s jurisdiction, and in all settings where employees provide healthcare or healthcare support services.
This webinar will analyze the applicability of the ETS to EMS organizations, many of which, EMS employers implemented long before the ETS was issued. However, these new standards include extensive workplace hazard assessment and documentation requirements that many EMS employers must be able to produce for regulators. OSHA has emphasized that healthcare employers, including EMS organizations, are the focus of the department’s enhanced enforcement efforts to ensure compliance with these new standards. We will also discuss how EMS employers can utilize many of the OSHA Sample ETS documents and resources the department has created to assist healthcare employers in complying with this standard.
