On Demand | Beyond the Barcode: Human Trafficking in Children

Join the American Ambulance Association for an eye-opening presentation on the critical issue of human trafficking in children and adolescents. “Beyond the Barcode: Human Trafficking in Children,” aims to dispel the myths perpetuated by media and provide a comprehensive understanding of the complexities surrounding human trafficking. Participants will gain insights into the various definitions and terminology associated with human trafficking, recognize that there is no stereotype for victims, learn about the risk factors and common medical issues faced by victims, and explore available resources for supporting them.
Speaker
Dr. Cree Kachelski is a Minnesota native who completed her 4 year undergradtuate degree at St. Mary’s University in Winona MN, prior to completing 4 years of medical school at the University of Minnesota. She finished her Pediatric Residency at Mayo clinic in 2019 and then was the first person to graduate from a combined Pediatric Emergency Medicine and Child Abuse Pediatrics fellowship at Children’s Mercy in Kansas City where she had the opportunity to grow her career nationally through numerous presentations and journal articles. She has since returned to Mayo Clinic and is an assitant professor in Pediatric Emergency Medicine and Child abuse Pediatrics. She has special interest in human trafficking and serves as the Southeastern Minnesota Medical Liason for the Human Trafficking Task Force. She also takes special interest in identification of child maltreatment in the emergency department and identification and care of the child torture victim. When she is not at work Dr. Kachelski is busy with her two sons and likley some motorsport racing.
