Recorded March 9, 2021
Speaker: Brian Werfel, Esq.
This session is a continuation of the materials covered in the 2021 Medicare Update Part 1.
Please join AAA Medicare Consultant Brian S. Werfel, Esq. for the second part of our Medicare Update series. In the first presentation, we covered changes to the Medicare Program’s reimbursement of ambulance services. We also covered changes to Medicare’s coverage of ambulance services during the current public health emergency, including the additional flexibilities granted to ambulance providers and suppliers to better manage the pandemic. In this part, we will discuss other recent program changes, including the impact of the new edits for SNF Consolidated Billing, the recent changes to the rules governing Physician Certification Statements (PCS Forms), and the latest initiatives from CMS to reduce the existing ALJ backlog. We will also discuss the current status of the Ambulance Cost Data Collection System and the roll-out of the Emergency Triage, Treat, and Transport (ET3) Model. We will then shift gears to focus on the compliance challenges facing EMS providers, including the current status of the Target Probe and Education (TPE) audits, the potential impact of the national expansion of prior authorization for dialysis and other repetitive ambulance transports, numerous OIG reports, and the latest cases being prosecuted by the Department of Justice. The webinar will conclude with a Q&A session.
