Tell us a little about yourself.
I was born and raised in Berkeley, California. I have a wife and two grown children, and enjoy traveling.

How did you come to work in the industry?
After 20 years in law enforcement and five years in public safety communications, I became general manager for Rural/Metro in southern Arizona. I subsequently co-founded our company, Arizona Ambulance Transport, in 2000.


What do you enjoy most about your job?
Our team members are amazing people. It is a joy to work with them. We also have a contract with the Army and it is an honor to serve the soldiers of Fort Huachuca.

What is your biggest professional challenge?
Certainly reimbursements. Also, meeting the needs of our customer hospitals. The bulk of our business is long distance inter-facility transports (1.5 – 2.5 hours), moving patients from smaller hospitals to larger hospitals. Based on our volume over time, we can support a certain number of ambulances on duty at any given time. On occasion, demand exceeds our capability to respond as quickly as we’d like.

What is your typical day like?
Pretty easy because we have a great Operations Manager. He is experienced, level headed and his enthusiasm is infectious across the organization. I oversee our finances and work with hospital execs.
